Authorities are searching the Ashley River near the City Marina for a man who was last seen working on his boat Friday.
Richard Sloane is 64, white, 5 feet 9 inches tall and 150 pounds, according to a news release from the Charleston Police Department.
Sloane lives alone on a boat at the marina and was last seen about noon on Friday by a friend, Charleston police spokesman Charles Francis said.
The friend flagged down an officer about 11:45 a.m. today to report that Sloane was missing.
The friend told police he had not been able to locate or make contact with Sloane since he last saw him, Francis said.
Divers with the Charleston Police Department, the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office and the Charleston County Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad are searching the area near Sloane’s boat, including the area near the Ashley River bridges.
