Deputies working multiple wrecks in Charleston County
The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office was investigating three motor vehicle wrecks that took place Saturday afternoon, one in West Ashley and two on Johns Island.
Just before 3 p.m., deputies were called to 1544 Orange Grove Road for a wreck involving a mo-ped. The driver lost control of the mo-ped and suffered injuries that were not thought to be life-threatening, sheriff’s Maj. Jim Brady said in a news release issued about 4:45 p.m.
The mo-ped driver was taken to a hospital by Charleston County EMS, Brady said. The road was closed for a while but had been reopened, Brady said.
About 3:30 p.m., deputies were dispatched to Bears Bluff Road near its intersection with Maybank Highway for an overturned vehicle, Brady said. The wreck involved a single vehicle with one occupant, who had serious injuries.
Bears Bluff Road was shut down for an investigation, Brady said. Motorist should avoid the area.
About 3:45 p.m., deputies responded to 2026 River Road for a two-vehicle wreck with minor injuries, Brady said. The roadway was expected to be reopened by about 5 p.m. after the vehicles were removed by tow trucks.
