Reported hostage situation ends peacefully on James Island
A James Island man was arrested after a standoff at his home this afternoon and now faces they same charges that he did in a similar incident two years ago.
Christopher Glenn Mishowe, 34, of Meander Row faces counts of kidnapping and criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature.
Charles Francis, spokesman for the Charleston Police Department, said authorities got a “second-hand” call about 1:30 p.m. that a man was holding his girlfriend against her will on Meander Row, which is near Folly Road.
About 3 p.m., the home’s occupants came out without a struggle. Francis said investigators were still trying to sort out what prompted the call.
A SWAT team and hostage negotiators had arrived at the scene when the situation ended. A woman was taken by Charleston County EMS to a hospital.
Traffic on Rivers Point Row had been diverted at the Bi-Lo store, but the roadblock has since been removed.
A similar situation occurred at the home in July 2011, when Mishowe was accused of tying up his girlfriend and preventing her from leaving. At the time, Mishowe also was charged with kidnapping and criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature.
