A student leader at the Charleston School of Law is facing a stalking charge.
Shun Griffin, 25, president of the Student Bar Association, was arrested Oct. 21 in Columbia, according to Richland County court records recently brought to The Post and Courier’s attention.
The newspaper has asked Columbia police to provide the arrest report.
Griffin was elected president for the 2012-13 term, according to the school’s website.
The school’s administration is aware of the charges.
“We understand an allegation has been made against him and we are monitoring it,” school spokesman Andy Brack said Wednesday. “Federal privacy law limits further comment.”
Some students started a petition to remove Griffin from office after the arrest, according to an online petition site that has since become inactive. It’s not clear how many signatures they managed to get. Attempts to reach students who might have been behind the effort were unsuccessful.
Griffin did not respond to an email asking for comment.
