Brush fire takes out 50 acres along I-26 near Ladson
A brush fire today along Interstate 26 in the Ladson area took out 50 acres before Lowcountry firefighters brought it under control.
Firefighters remained on the scene into the night checking for hot spots that could reignite.
The fire started in an abandoned trailer in a wooded area about 9 a.m. and spread between U.S. Highway 78 and College Park Road along I-26.
Firetrucks briefly closed an eastbound lane of I-26. It took about four hours for firefighters to bring the fire under control.
Firefighters from Dorchester County, North Charleston, Whitesville, Pimlico, Ladson, Mount Pleasant, Monks Corner and Goose Creek battled the blaze.
There were no reported injuries.
