Charleston lawyer and former County Council member Andy Savage was today elected chairman of the Charleston County Aviation Authority.

Savage replaces state Rep. Chip Limehouse, who has relinquished his seat on the board to run for Congress.

At today’s meeting, during which the board was to go into executive session to discuss the Boeing land deal, Maj. Gen. Jim Livingston was Limehouse’s proxy.

Limehouse, a Charleston Republican, intends to focus his efforts on a bid for the 1st District congressional seat vacated by Rep. Tim Scott when Scott was tapped to become a U.S. senator to replace former Sen. Jim DeMint. DeMint resigned to take a job in the private sector.
