Charleston firefighters secure gas leak on Daniel Island

Charleston firefighters secured a gas leak on Daniel Island this morning, officials say.

The Charleston Fire Department received a report of a gas odor on Island Park Drive about 5:30 a.m., Charleston Fire Marshal Mike Julazadeh said.

South Carolina Electric & Gas officials determined the leak may have occurred around a water heater, Julazadeh said.

Crews cleared the leak shortly before 7 a.m., Julazadeh said.
