Charleston County School Board member Elizabeth Moffly plans to announce Thursday her intention to enter the 1st Congressional District race.
Moffly acknowledged it’s a crowded field, but she said someone has to win.

Moffly, an Awendaw resident and owner of a construction and real estate firm, is one of the school district’s biggest critics. She was elected to the school board in November 2010, and her term expires in 2014. She ran for state superintendent of education in 2010 and came in second to Mick Zais for the Republican nomination.
