CLEMSON — Former Clemson offensive coordinator Billy Napier will be back on the sidelines in the Atlantic Division this fall, as Florida State announced today that he will become the program’s new tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator.

It appears to be a good fit for Napier who returns to the Southeast, which he knows well as a Georgia native and former Furman quarterback. Napier had been the quarterbacks coach at Colorado State.

Napier was promoted by Dabo Swinney to be Clemson’s offensive coordinator in 2009. At 29, he was the youngest coodinator in the ACC. Napier was fired after the 2010 season because of Clemson’s inept offensive performance. It also was unclear how much autonomy Napier had in running the Clemson offense.
