Mount Pleasant man arrested on child porn charges
Charleston County deputies on Monday arrested a Mount Pleasant man after they say they found child pornography in his home.
Deputies charged James Boyd Gentry, 39, of Queensgate Way, with two counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and one count of simple possession of marijuana, sheriff’s Maj. Jim Brady said.
Deputies searched Gentry’s home after his phone was turned over to investigators in a separate narcotics case, Brady said.
The phone contained messages from Gentry referring to children engaged in sexual activities, Brady said.
In the search, deputies found two CDs containing images of child porn, Brady said.
Marijuana was also found at the home, Brady said.
Additional charges may be filed against Gentry as the investigation continues, Brady said.
Investigators are working with the FBI to determine if the children in the images can be identified, Brady said.
Gentry is expected to have a bond hearing at 2 p.m. today, Brady said.
