1 killed at Greenville law enforcement office
GREENVILLE — Authorities say a suspect has been shot and killed following a confrontation with officers in the parking lot of the Greenville County Law Enforcement Center.
The shooting occurred around 3 a.m. Monday.
Police say an officer was walking to his car when a man approached him in a threatening manner with what appeared to be a weapon. Investigators say a sheriff’s deputy in his patrol car stepped out to help the officer. They say the officer and the deputy fired when the man refused to put down what appeared to be a weapon.
The suspect was 31-year-old Wesley Kyle Swilling of Mauldin.
The officer and deputy are on administrative leave while the State Law Enforcement Division investigates.
