Living close to downtown Charleston can offer benefits to a tenant on a budget — even if it’s fairly sizable.

Renters can reside just beyond the peninsula and travel to and from the city for fine dining, entertainment or work in just a few minutes.

Meanwhile, their lodging right over a river or uptown can be charming, upscale, comfortable and tidy yet cost less than many rentals in the historic district.

If that sounds like the place to be, then 630-C Windermere Blvd. west of the Ashley could be the kind of property to check out.

“They are pretty nice,” says Whitney Williams, property manager with Southern Real Estate Management in Mount Pleasant.

The townhome is for rent for $1,850 a month and is available for immediate move-in. Although 630-C Windermere Blvd. is publicized as a year’s lease, length of stay terms are negotiable, she says.

The 1,576-square-foot townhome, sporting three bedrooms and three baths, is among a small group of up-and-down dwellings built in the past decade off residential Windermere Boulevard. The roadway slices between Windermere Plaza and a row of shops on its north side, filtering through the quiet South Windermere neighborhood and skirting past established St. Andrews Elementary School.

“This stunning townhome is within walking distance to the shops in Windermere Plaza,” Williams says.

Featured in the two-level residence are hardwood floors that run throughout the downstairs. The kitchen showcases updated appliances, notably a refrigerator, dishwasher and microwave. A washer and dryer also come with the townhouse.

Other highlights of the property are a large screened-in back porch and a sizable volume of storage space. A two-car garage is located beneath the townhome and connects directly to the residence.

Williams says the townhome is in a convenient, centrally located spot. She says it’s “a 10 minute drive to downtown and to the Citadel Mall,” which are in opposite directions.

The townhouse is less than a mile from Folly Road off Windermere Boulevard. Heading west, take the Ashley River Bridge from downtown onto Savannah Highway and then bear left to Folly. At the traffic light, turn left and then make an immediate right on Windermere Boulevard. Once on Windermere, drive past the retail center. A block or two ahead is 630-C Windermere Boulevard.
