Citadel can’t hold second-half lead, drops 9th-straight game by 70-65 to Chattanooga

The Citadel led by 10 points in the second half but could not close the deal and lost its ninth straight basketball game, 75-60, to Chattanooga tonight at McAlister Field House.

Freshman Matt Van Scyoc led four Citadel players in double figures with 20 points. Another freshman, Rae Robinson, scored 15 points in his first start, and Mike Groselle added 13 points and Stephen Elmore 11.

Drazen Zlovaric scored 14 points to lead the Mocs (7-9, 2-1 Southern Conference). The Citadel led by 62-59 with 4:54 left, but Chattanooga closed the game with an 11-3 run. The Citadel fell to 3-10 overall and 0-3 in the SoCon.

The Bulldogs continue a four-game homestand on Saturday against Samford before hosting rival College of Charleston on Monday.
