Summerville teen sexually assaulted on bike trail, according to report

A 17-year-old girl was sexually assaulted on a popular Summerville trail Wednesday, according to WCSC-TV.

Police are expected to release a sketch of the assailant Friday, live5news.com reported.

The girl was attacked on the Sawmill Branch Walk/Bike Trail behind the SCE&G power station near Bacons Bridge Road on Wednesday afternoon, according to the incident report that was cited.

She described her attacker as a young white man with curly brown hair wearing a camouflage jacket. He jumped off a bike and threatened her with a knife.

Several witnesses confirmed her report, including a man who saw the assault and caused the attacker to flee. Officers noted cuts and bruises on her face.

Summerville police could not be immediately reached for comment.
