South Carolina, Clemson football teams finish in top 10
CLEMSON — College football polls have been around for more than 70 years but for the first time Clemson and South Carolina are each ranked in the top 10 of the final rankings.
The Gamecocks are ranked No. 8 in the Associated Press poll and No. 7 in the coaches poll, while Clemson finished 11th in the AP poll and No. 9 in the coaches poll.
The final polls were released Tuesday.
It is the 10th time Clemson has ranked 11th or better in the AP poll, the third time for USC.
It marks South Carolina’s second top 10 finish in school history. The first came last season when it finished ninth in the AP poll.
Both South Carolina and Clemson finished with 11-2 records.
