Two York County websites hacked
ROCK HILL— The websites of two York County agencies were hacked for a time and officials are investigating how it happened.
The Herald of Rock Hill reported http://bit.ly/10bsklQ the hacking was discovered Monday on the sites for the prosecutor’s office and the economic development agency.
The sites had pop-up windows with a map of Iran in the background and words claiming that the hacking was done by a Middle Eastern digital security team. The pop-up window circled the screen before displaying yellow words saying, “We Love Iran” and “D4J Was Here-.”
Joel Abernathy with the county’s information technology department says hackers gained access through one of the county’s older web servers. Neither site had personal or confidential information.
The Iranian group’s website says it tests computer networks and servers and exposes vulnerabilities.
