Charleston police have identified the victim of this afternoon’s shooting on Columbus Street as 30-year-old Bernard Blunt.

Blunt, of Hanover Street, was shot outside the Top of the Line barbershop at 75 Columbus St., police said.

Charleston police say the shooting happened about 12:30 p.m.

Blunt was in the barbershop when an acquaintance asked him to step outside.

The two men appeared to argue over a girl. Then, the acquaintance pulled out a gun and shot the victim twice in the buttocks, police say.

Witnesses said they heard at least two gunshots.

The gunman fled after the shooting and police are still searching for him.

Police taped off about half a block of Columbus Street where the shooting occurred, and Blunt was seen being loaded onto an ambulance on a stretcher.
