Son charged with killing father in Boiling Springs
BOILING SPRINGS — Spartanburg County deputies say a 25-year-old man beat his father to death in a pickup truck in Boiling Springs.
Investigators said a witness stopped when she heard someone calling for help around 8 p.m. Wednesday, and a man beating the victim ran away when she said she called police.
Authorities say 65-year-old Vaughn Bishop wasn’t breathing when deputies arrived and died a short time later at the hospital. An arrest warrant for his son says the father was beaten in the head.
An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the cause of death.
Investigators say Jason Bishop admitted to beating up his father when he was arrested a few hours later. He was charged with murder and remains in jail. It wasn’t clear if he had an attorney.
