Charleston Heritage Symposium donates proceeds to Preservation Society of Charleston
Organizers of the Charleston Heritage Symposium donated more than $32,000 to the Preservation Society of Charleston during a recent membership meeting.
The contribution represents the total proceeds from this year’s inaugural three-day symposium.
The symposium operates under the auspices of the local society, one of the nation’s oldest community-based preservation organization. The 2012 symposium was coordinated by an all-volunteer board of decorative arts enthusiasts, and this donation will benefit the preservation society’s “Seven to Save” program.
This year’s symposium hosted 75 patrons for a decorative arts and cultural heritage program. The program focused on neoclassicism in the late 18th- to early 19th-century Charleston.
