South Carolina State University board member Jonathan Pinson has resigned, said university spokeswoman Ashley Elliott.
According to Elliott, Pinson is leaving to spend more time with family.
Pinson previously served as chairman of the Board of Trustees, but he stepped down from that position in February, saying he wanted to spend more time on his business.
That resignation came during a time of upheaval last year at the state’s only public historically black university. The school’s president fired eight administrators, then resigned. And lawyer Reggie Lloyd announced the school was in the midst of an unspecified criminal investigation, the nature and results of which still have not been released.
Three other board members also have resigned in the past year.
