Extended contract talks between Time Warner Cable and the Charleston regions only NBC station wont interfere with service
Extended contract talks between Time Warner Cable and the Charleston region’s only NBC station won’t interfere with service, it was announced late Monday.
The two sides have come to terms “in principle.”
“While we work to finalize our agreement, our customers will continue to receive Media General programming without any disruption,” the cable company said in a brief statement.
Media General is the owner of WCBD-TV in Mount Pleasant.
Time Warner Cable serves about 20,000 local households, mostly in the Summerville area.
The two companies have been in talks over how much the cable provider should pay the station to retransmit NBC’s news shows, sporting events and other programming. Their current fee agreement expired late Monday. The agreement was announced about an hour before the deadline.
Time Warner Cable has said Media General wants to boost the retransmission payments by 200 percent but it did not specify a dollar amount.
