Man charged with felony DUI after fatal wreck

GREENVILLE ó A 27-year-old man is charged with felony drunken driving following a wreck in Greenville County that killed one person and injured another.

Authorities say Russell Fuller of Fountain Inn was attempting to pass another vehicle on state Highway 296 when he hit a car head-on about 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

The Greenville County Coronerís Office says that carís front-seat passenger, 21-year-old Spenser Smith of Mauldin, was pronounced dead at the scene. The carís 23-year-old driver was airlifted to a local hospital.

Fuller was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The state Highway Patrol says Fuller is charged with felony driving under the influence resulting in death and felony DUI with great bodily injury.
