An early-morning fire in Summerville displaced a family of seven from their home.

The blaze broke out at 106 Poppy Place, according to the Red Cross.

The neighborhood is between Maple and West 5th North streets.

Red Cross volunteers provided the family with temporary housing, money to help replace the food lost in the fire as well as comfort kits and referrals to Red Cross partner agencies this afternoon.

The Summerville Fire Department got the call around 2:30 a.m. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Red Cross relies on donations to help fire victims. More information is at lowcountryredcross.org.
