Folly erosion not the whole beach
FOLLY BEACH — This island isn’t being lost to erosion; it’s gaining beach overall, thanks to renourishment, a coastal engineer’s study suggests.
But both the Folly Beach County Park end and the Lighthouse Creek end are being lost.
Engineer Tim Kana’s recently released study on beach renourishment in South Carolina drives right to the crux of the argument whether a groin is needed at the county park to help save it. The park can’t stop losing sand without one, he said.
