Duluth, Ga. Goaltender Ryan Zapolski stopped all 26 shots to help South Carolina snap a six-game winless streak with a 4-0 victory over Gwinnett at The Arena at Gwinnett Center on Friday night.

Stingrays forward Robby Dee kicked off the scoring with a power-play goal at 7:58 of the first period, ripping a shot under the glove of Gladiators goaltender Mike Lee (17 saves on 21 shots) from between the faceoff circles. Forwards Tyler McNeely and Hunter Bishop picked up the assists.

Forward Andrew Cherniwchan put the Stingrays (14-16-1-3) up 2-0 at 12:05 from forwards Tyler Johnson and Matthew Pistilli.

In his first game in a Stingrays uniform, forward Ryan Hayes made it a three-goal lead at 18:01, completing a 2-on-1 rush with forward Chris Langkow.

Bishop completed the game scoring with a late third-period man-advantage marker at 19:06, tapping a pass from Dee past the blocker of Lee. McNeely grabbed the second assist.

The Stingrays ended the contest 2 for 5 on the power play while the Gladiators (20-11-1-0) went 0 for 4.

The Stingrays return to the North Charleston Coliseum today to host the Wheeling Nailers at 7:05 p.m.

The Stingraysacquired defenseman Derek Foam from the Evansville IceMen inexchange for future considerations.

Foam, 24, appeared in 18 games with the IceMen this season registering three assists and four penalty minutes. The Mississauga, Ontario, native began the season with the Huntsville Havoc of the Southern Professional league, dressing in six games and adding one assist. Last season, Foam skated in 25 ECHL contests with Wheeling and Cincinnati, scoring four points (one goal, three assists).
