It's tough to beat a talented team such as Mount St. Joseph, which is one of the best teams in the basketball-rich Baltimore area.

It's even tougher when you fall behind 16-2.

That's what happened Friday night to Porter-Gaud in the Piggly Wiggly Roundball Classic Rotary Bracket semifinal at North Charleston High School.

The Gaels came out shooting and jumped to a 14-point lead. Porter-Gaud never quit, but never recovered, dropping a 66-50 decision.

“My gosh, they can shoot,” Porter-Gaud coach John Pearson said. “Psychologically, it's very tough to come back from that type of deficit. Our kids were ready to play, but we knew they were a good team. They hit their shots early.”
