Boeing delivering third SC-built 787
It appears Boeing has delivered its third South Carolina-made 787 Dreamliner to Air India.
Boeing spokeswomen did not return messages Saturday evening, but according to the plane-tracking website FlightAware, Air India flew another 787 away from North Charleston just before 5 p.m. Like previous delivery flights, it is scheduled to stop in Frankfurt, Germany, before continuing on to the Subcontinent.
The handover would be the second from the local plane-making complex this month and at least the 44th Dreamliner Boeing has delivered to an airline in 2012, exceeding the goal the Chicago-based airframer announced earlier this year. It was not clear whether the jet that left town Saturday was Line Number 54, the second SC-assembled 787 that experienced an engine failure this summer, or LN 65, the fourth plane to come off the local line.
The first S.C.-built Dreamliner, LN 46, was delivered Oct. 5, and its younger sibling, LN 60, was delivered Dec. 20.
