South Carolina flu cases and fatalities rising
Flu conditions remains widespread in South Carolina, with dozens more hospital cases seen and the death toll rising, health officials reported today.
Three more “lab confirmed” deaths were recorded for December, the Department of Health of Environmental Control said.
Not one was attributed to the Charleston, Berkeley or Dorchester county areas.
The count brings the total number of in-state deaths tied to the flu since September to at least 13.
That number, however, may be low.
Because of the time lag it takes to collect and report medical data, DHEC’s statistics period is a calendar week behind.
