Our Lady of Counsel player injured during basketball tournament
A Lady of Good Counsel High School basketball player suffered an apparent head injury during today’s game against James Island in the Piggly Wiggly Roundball Classic.
With 9:24 left in the first half, Our Lady of Good Counsel freshman guard Anthony Cowan drove to the basket on a layup attempt. He collided in air with a James Island player and crashed to the court, with his head hitting the wooden floor. He seemed to convulse for a couple of seconds and laying motionless as trainers examined him.
He was down the floor for 10 minutes when Charleston County EMS arrived at North Charleston High School, the venue for the event. EMS personnel put him on a backboard and placed a brace around his neck. He was transported to MUSC.
Our Lady of Good Counsel is located in Olney, Md.
