Children in the Lowcountry are learning the joys of giving early in their lives. Today we recognize a donation from the children at First (Scots) Presbyterian Kindergarten in the amount of $780.50, their highest total to date. We applaud their generosity, which can go a long way toward helping neighbors in need like Joslyn.
Joslyn lives with her elderly parents and two aunts in a small house near Hampton Park. All of the elder generation have medical issues that Joslyn attends to daily. Caring for them has become her full-time job.
Because the entire household lives on a very limited fixed income, there is usually little to spare by the end of the month and generally not enough food to provide for everyone adequately.
Your generous donation can help a local agency provide Joslyn with food gift cards so she can offer her family a nutritious Christmas dinner to make the holidays a bit brighter.
Donations to The Post and Courier’s Good Cheer Fund have helped the less fortunate in the Lowcountry since 1927. The six charitable organizations sharing the funds collected are Carolina Youth Development Center, Lowcountry Food Bank, Salvation Army, Star Gospel Mission, Association for the Blind and Coastal Catholic Charities. Every cent of the money raised goes directly to the agencies as there are no administrative costs involved.
Send tax-deductible contributions to the Good Cheer Fund, c/o The Post and Courier, 134 Columbus St., Charleston, SC 29403-4800. Donations also may be made in person or online at www.goodcheerfund.com.
To be listed in the paper by Christmas Day, contributions must be received in our office by 11 a.m. Monday.
