Man gets 25 years in Greenwood shooting death
GREENWOOD — A Greenwood man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for the shooting death of another man last year.
The Index-Journal of Greenwood reported that 24-year-old Thomas Tyrone Jackson pleaded guilty this week in Greenwood to voluntary manslaughter.
Twenty-year-old Talmadge Crawford of Abbeville was shot to death on April 30, 2011.
Circuit Judge Frank Addy said Jackson will get credit for the nearly two years he has spent in jail.
Prosecutor Andrew Hodges said Crawford was shot in the front yard of a home in Greenwood.
Hodges said the men had been at a nightclub earlier in the evening, then became involved in a fight at the home.
Police said Jackson then pulled a gun and shot Crawford.
