Police: Spartanburg couple racked up $78 thousand in fraudulent charges at Best Buy
SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- A Spartanburg couple has been arrested on charges of credit card fraud for buying $78 thousand in goods at a Best Buy electronics store.
The Herald-Journal of Spartanburg reported that 58-year-old Rhonda Dixon McSwain and 48-year-old Calvin Lewis Ross were arrested and charged with financial transaction card theft and obtaining goods under false pretenses.
Spartanburg police say there were 35 unauthorized transactions at the store between Dec. 1 and Dec. 13.
Police were called to the store last week by employees who recognized the couple as they tried to make more purchases.
Investigator John Burgess says McSwain and Ross bought computers, video game systems, cameras and gift cards with the stolen credit cards.
It was not clear if Ross and McSwain have attorneys.
