A Summerville Elementary School student will be recommended for disciplinary action after being tied to bullets found on a school bus this morning.
The Durham school bus was picking up Summerville Elementary School students when children found two bullets in the back of the bus, district spokeswoman Pat Raynor said.
The bus had dropped off Summerville High School students earlier in the morning, Raynor said.
School officials pulled students that had been on the bus from class, questioned them and searched their lockers, Capt. Jon Rogers said.
No further ammunition or weapons was found, Rogers said.
The principal at Summerville Elementary later met again with the students who rode that bus where the bullets were found, Raynor said. One of those students eventually admitted to having the bullets on the bus, she said.
Summerville Police also questioned the student and are expected to file areport on the incident, Raynor said.
School officials did not identify the student, who is a juvenile.
Parents were notified of the incident as a precaution, Raynor said.
