A mother and daughter were hospitalized with possible smoke inhalation after an early-morning fire ripped through their Summerville home.
Firefighters with the Old Fort Fire Department responded to 124 Trickle Drive about 4:30 a.m. and saw heavy smoke coming from the home, Fire Chief Ed Genthert said.
The flames consumed the home’s garage and kitchen area but never penetrated the roof, Genthert said.
A three-member family is now displaced as a result of the blaze, Genthert said.
A woman and her teenage daughter were hospitalized for possible smoke inhalation, Genthert said.
The cause of the blaze is still under investigation, Genthert said.
