The city of Charleston, in conjunction with Dick’s Sporting Goods, is holding a drive for gently used athletic and running attire through Jan. 5.

Donors will received a $5 gift certificate, up to a maximum of five, for each item donated.

Donations will go to youth participants in the city’s Ready, Set, Run! program.

Ready, Set, Run! was developed by the National Youth Sports Alliance to introduce children to the sport of running while encouraging a healthy lifestyle and self-confidence. The 12-week lesson-based program includes games, techniques and discussion topics.

Children set small goals throughout the program with the end result being that a child can run a 5K or more.

Donations can be dropped off at Bees Landing Recreation Center, 1580 Ashley Gardens Blvd.; James Island Recreation Center, 1088 Quail Drive; or the Daniel Island recreation office, 235 Seven Farms Drive,
