Stingrays win sixth straight

Greenville— The South Carolina Stingrays extended their winning streak to six games, defeating the Greenville Road Warriors, 2-1, at the Bi-Lo Center on Sunday afternoon.

Stingrays forward Hunter Bishop kicked off the scoring 11 seconds into the game, tapping a backdoor pass from forward Tyler McNeely past the right pad of Road Warriors goaltender Nathan Lieuwen (27 saves on 29 shots).

Forward Andrew Yogan tied the game for Greenville (13-10-1-1) with two minutes left in the opening period, beating Stingrays netminder Ryan Zapolski (28 saves on 29 shots) between the legs.

Forward Kevin Baker scored his first goal as a member of the Stingrays at 12:04 of the second period. Defenseman Scooter Vaughan and McNeely earned assists.

The Stingrays (13-12-0-2) return to the North Charleston Coliseum on Tuesday night against the Road Warriors at 7:05 p.m.
