Thanks to money raised during last year’s Good Cheer Fund campaign, 9-year-old Judy was able to have glaucoma surgery. Unfortunately, she now has cataracts and needs another operation.

Her doctor, a local ophthalmologist, has reached out to a Good Cheer agency for assistance with Judy’s condition. All the people involved with the surgery have greatly reduced their fees to help her. Your generous donation to the Good Cheer Fund will enable Judy to have her cataract surgery and improve her vision, as well as helping others in the same plight.

Contributions to The Post and Courier’s Good Cheer Fund have helped the less fortunate in the Lowcountry since 1927. The six charitable organizations sharing the funds collected are the Lowcountry Food Bank, The Salvation Army, Star Gospel Mission, the Association for the Blind, Coastal Catholic Charities and Carolina Youth Development Center. Every cent of the money goes directly to the agencies, as there are no administrative costs involved.

Send tax-deductible contributions to the Good Cheer Fund, c/o The Post and Courier, 134 Columbus St., Charleston, SC 29403-4800. Donations also may be made in person or online at
