Lindsey Marino, assistant principal of Westview Primary School in Berkeley County School District, on Monday was named the 2013 Elementary Assistant Principal of the Year by the South Carolina Association of School Administrators.
Marino is “an exceptional ambassador for education in our state,” said Molly Spearman, executive director of the organization.
Marino began her career in 2000 as a special education teacher at Macedonia Middle and in 2004 moved to Sangaree Middle, where she served as assistant principal for three years before transferring to Westview Primary in 2009.
“Dr. Marino is not afraid of hard work and doesn’t ask of others what she isn’t willing to do herself,” said Dr. Lucretia Carter, Westview principal. “She understands that a true leader models what is to be expected.”
Marino is married to Scott Marino, who was elected to the Berkeley County School Board in November.
