North Charleston police probe afternoon shooting incident

North Charleston police are hunting for gunmen who reportedly shot at a vehicle with three people inside on Dorchester Road this afternoon.

At about 1:30 p.m., officers were sent to the area of 5405 Dorchester Road to check out a report of shots being fired, police spokesman Spencer Pryor said. They located a man on Alvie Street who told them his vehicle had been shot at on Dorchester Road, he said.

Officers noted his 2002 Chrysler Town and Country van had a shattered rear window and the front end had damage from an apparent collision, police said.

None of the people in the van were able to give a description of the suspects or a suspect vehicle, Pryor said.

Officers searched the area around the MoMart convenience store where the incident reportedly occurred, but no evidence was located, Pryor said. No one inside the store witnessed the incident or could provide any additional information, he said.

Area resident Paul Flood told The Post and Courier he and others heard 10 shots fired during the incident. He said a blue sport utility vehicle raced away from the scene and struck a silver car in the process. None of the people in the silver car appeared to be seriously injured, he said.
