It has been said that good things come in small packages. But they come in large packages too, and we have received one of those today.
The Yarborough Applegate Law Firm has again donated a very generous $10,000 to the Good Cheer Fund, noting how pleased they are to be able to help the people in our community who need it the most.
“We have a strong belief in giving back and helping those in our community who are in need,” said firm co-founder David B. Yarborough Jr. “The Post and Courier’s commitment to raising money for the homeless, the blind, children who are abused and hardworking parents who have fallen on hard times is consistent with our mission of helping good people who are going through bad times. It is our hope that this donation will help bring happiness into the hearts of some of these people and put smiles on their faces.”
This donation will go a long way toward helping Mary and others like her in the Lowcountry.
Mary has been raising three of her grandchildren since her daughter died of cancer a year ago. She is trying hard to keep the family together and her friends and neighbors are very supportive. It is hard for Mary to make ends meet, however, as she is diabetic and has other health problems. She often chooses between food for her grandchildren and paying her own medical bills.
Your donation will help a local agency provide Mary and her family with nutritious food during this holiday season.
Since 1927, contributions to The Post and Courier’s Good Cheer Fund have helped the less fortunate in the Lowcountry during the holiday season. The six charitable organizations sharing the funds collected are the Association for the Blind, Salvation Army, Star Gospel Mission, Carolina Youth Development Center, Coastal Catholic Charities and the Lowcountry Food Bank. Every cent of the money goes directly to the agencies, as there are no administrative costs involved.
Send tax-deductible contributions to the Good Cheer Fund, c/o The Post and Courier, 134 Columbus St., Charleston, SC 29403-4800. Donations also may be made in person or online at www.goodcheerfund.com.
