Tramel Terry wins Mr. Football award

MYRTLE BEACH — Goose Creek’s Tramel Terry was named Mr. Football tonight during the North-South Banquet at Myrtle Beach High School.

Tickets: $15 at the gate. Up to two children (under 7) admitted free with one adult ticket holder.

Terry, Goose Creek’s talented running back/wide receiver, became only the second Lowcountry player to win the award since its inception in 1995. The only other local player to win the coveted award was Moe Thompson of Stratford. The defensive end was named Mr. Football in 2001.

Terry, a 6-1, 190-pound senior, tallied 1,861 all-purpose yards this fall and scored 24 touchdowns.

Terry rushed for 841 yards, averaging 7.4 yards per carry and had 818 receiving yards, averaging 16.7 yards per catch. Terry also averaged 18.4 yards per kickoff return.

The other Mr. Football finalists included Byrnes receiver Akia Booker, T.L. Hanna linebacker Ben Boulware, Strom Thurmond running back Darius Hammond and Conway quarterback Mykal Moody.
