What killed woman found dead in West Ashley fire still unknown

What killed an 81-year-old found dead Wednesday inside her burning West Ashley home is still a mystery.

The Charleston County Coroner’s Office said Thursday that an autopsy performed on Anne Bello of 2358 Brevard Road did not render a cause of death, and results are not expected for a few more weeks.

Firefighters put out a fire at Bello’s single-story brick home shortly after 11 a.m. Wednesday. She lived in the house alone.

Neither the fire nor the death appeared to be suspicious, Charelston County Sheriff’s Maj. Jim Brady said Wednesday.
