Charleston County deputies today arrested a man accused of sexually assaulting a minor.

The victim, a 13-year-old girl, told a forensic interviewer with the Lowcountry Children’s Center that her grandmother’s boyfriend assaulted her in 2007 when she was between 8 and 9 years old, an incident report states.

Deputies arrested Henry Brockington, 55, of Bear Swamp in Charleston and charged him with first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor.

Brockington is accused of assaulting the girl while she rested on a couch, according to an affidavit.

The girl told the interviewer that Brockington only stopped the assault when he heard a family member enter the home, the affidavit said.

Brockington is being held at the Charleston County jail.
