He and his sister Emily are being raised by their grandmother, Carol. The family struggles with the day-to-day management of his illness, and to make matters worse, they have lost power to their trailer and have been served an eviction notice. A Good Cheer Fund agency is working to help the family have a better Christmas by putting the youngsters’ names on the angel trees at a couple of local churches.

Your donation to the fund will provide the means to help Carol get caught up on her electric bill and rent payments so that she and her grandchildren will not find themselves out on the street. Things can start looking up for this little family if you can find it in your heart to help.

Since 1927, donations to The Post and Courier’s Good Cheer Fund have helped the less fortunate in the Lowcountry during the holiday season. The six charitable organizations sharing the funds collected are the Association for the Blind, Salvation Army, Star Gospel Mission, Carolina Youth Development Center, Coastal Catholic Charities and the Lowcountry Food Bank. Every cent of the money goes directly to the agencies, as there are no administrative costs involved.

Send tax-deductible contributions to the Good Cheer Fund, c/o The Post and Courier, 134 Columbus St., Charleston, SC 29403-4800. Donations also may be made in person or online at www.goodcheerfund.com.
