Nearly 20 local churches will come together starting Thursday in an effort to collect $100,000 in 58 hours that will go to four Lowcountry orphan relief groups.

This is the third year LoveGave has sponsored a project before Christmas, and it’s grown every year.

Those involved will be stationed outside of the Walmart in Goose Creek and in West Ashley to solicit donations and raise awareness starting Thursday at 9 a.m. until Saturday at 7 p.m.

They will be collecting money and basic everyday supplies such as underwear, clothes and toiletries. They also received wish lists from each group, which include items such as golf carts.

“You just have to come out and experience what goes on,” said Mike Fessler, one of LoveGave’s organizers.
