CLEMSON – Clemson offensive coordinator Chad Morris is interviewing for the Auburn head coaching position today in Nashville, Tenn., according to 247Sports.com.

Auburn fired coach Gene Chizik on Nov. 25 after leading the team to a 3-9 overall record. Auburn was 0-8 in the SEC.

Chizik and former Auburn offensive coordinator Guz Malzahn helped lead the program to the 2010 national title. Malzahn schooled Morris in the no-huddle, up-tempo philosophy when Morris was a struggling Texas high school coach last decade.

Morris interviewed for the N.C. State head coaching position last week, a job that was filled by Northern Illinois coach Dave Doeren over the weekend. Compensation might have been an issue for N.C. State as Morris is the nation’s highest-paid assistant at $1.3 million per year.

But Auburn resides in the cash-rich SEC and knows first-hand what an up-tempo, no-huddle offense is capable of.
