The teenage girl and man who died when a pickup truck slammed into a tree and split into two pieces in rural Colleton County Saturday have been identified.

Daisha Blaine, 17, of Oregon Road and Eric Scott Warren, 40, of Mount Carmel Road both died at the scene from multiple injuries, Colleton County Coroner Richard Harvey said Sunday.

A 13-year-old boy riding in the bed escaped with minor injuries when he was thrown from the truck.

The crash was reported about 12:20 p.m. on the dirt portion of Oregon Road, also known as Oregon Trail Road, in the southern end of the county. Blaine was driving the Ford pickup east when she lost control and hit a tree, causing the truck to break into two pieces.

Blaine was wearing a seatbelt, but the passengers were not, according to the Highway Patrol.

Blaine was a student at Colleton County High School. Friends have set up a memorial page for her on Facebook.

Warren worked for the Walterboro Water Department, according to a notice from Brice Herndon’s Walterboro Chapel.
