Log truck driver injured in Colleton County wreck

Colleton County Fire and Rescue personnel had to remove the driver of this log truck after it ran off the side of Jacksonboro Highway and the logs crushed the cab, pinning the man inside. Provided by Eric Thornton.

The driver of a log truck was airlifted to a hospital this afternoon after the rig ran off the side of Jacksonboro Highway near Parkers Ferry Road about 12:30 p.m.

The logs crushed the cab and pinned the driver inside, Colleton County Fire and Rescue Director Barry McRoy said. As of 1:15 p.m., crews removed the man from the cab and put him in a helicopter en route to the Medical University Hospital.

His condition was not immediately known.
