Fifty-six-year-old K.K. was born with a defect in her palate and has undergone countless attempts to fix numerous dental issues. However, due to a lack of dental insurance, she has been unable to entirely fix the problem, because she cannot afford to pay the full cost of intensive, long-term work by a dental specialist.

When she can afford it, K.K. has had piecemeal work done over the years, with each dentist undoing the work of the one before. At this point, K.K.’s oral health has deteriorated to the point that she is unable to eat, communicate effectively or even feel self-confident because the dentures that she has had for years no longer fit her properly.

Your generous donation can help a Good Cheer Fund agency’s dental program provide health, hope and happiness to K.K. by giving her a long-awaited opportunity to achieve comprehensive dental repairs.

Contributions to The Post and Courier’s Good Cheer Fund have helped the less fortunate in the Lowcountry since 1927. The six charitable organizations sharing the funds collected are the Lowcountry Food Bank, the Salvation Army, Star Gospel Mission, the Association for the Blind, Coastal Catholic Charities and Carolina Youth Development Center. Every cent of the money goes directly to the agencies, as there are no administrative costs involved.

Send tax-deductible contributions to the Good Cheer Fund, c/o The Post and Courier, 134 Columbus St., Charleston, SC 29403-4800. Donations also may be made in person or online at
