Coroner identifies driver, passenger who died in Colleton County wreck

Provided 17-year-old Daisha Blaine and 40-year-old Scott Eric Warren died when this pickup truck hit a tree on Oregon Road in Colleton County on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012.

Authorities have identified a 17-year-old girl and 40-year-old man who died Saturday when a pickup truck slammed into a tree and split into two pieces in rural Colleton County.

Daisha Blaine, 17, of Oregon Road and Scott Eric Warren, 40, of Mount Carmel Road both died at the scene from multiple injuries, Colleton County Coroner Richard Harvey said. A 13-year-old boy riding in the bed escaped with minor injuries when he was thrown from the truck.

The crash was reported about 12:20 p.m. on the dirt portion of Oregon Road, also known as Oregon Trail Road, in the southern end of the county. Authorities said the Ford F-250 appeared to have been traveling at a high rate of speed when it struck the tree, causing it to break into two pieces.

Harvey said Warren was reportedly in a relationship with Blaineís mother. Harvey said he doesnít know of Blaine having a driverís license or a permit.

Blaine was a student at Colleton County High School. Friends have set up a memorial page for her on Facebook.
